You may remember my recent shopping trip with Kathryn Lagden in Second Life. I asked if anyone was interested in joining me on my next shopping visit. I thought a night out with the girls would be much more fun than venturing out on my own in this strange but enchanting new world.
Kate Trgovac (Katicus Sparrow) from My Name is Kate, Kate’s So-Called Second Life and regular One Degree contributor (to name a few) left a comment. We started talking and next thing you know… “After a Fashion” was born!
“After a Fashion” is a small group for Canadian women who want to explore Second Life. Shopping (especially bargain shopping) was the initial impetus, but we’ll expand that to the preferences of the group as we go along.
Our first excursion is this coming Monday, February 26, 2007 at 6PM SLT (9PM EST) (yes, you’ll have to TiVo “24”). We’ve planned a fun agenda of a couple of places to visit, pick up some bargain clothes, maybe do a little clothing swap and see what we see. We’ll also talk about what folks would like to get out of these adventures.
We’re going to try to keep this small to start; ideally under 12 women. We have some slots left, so, if you’re interested, send me an email with:
• Your real name (see women-only comment below)
• Your avatar’s name (so I can invite you to the group)
• Your blog/website if you have one
• How long you’ve been in SL (newbies are welcome, but you’ll need to get your avatar and make sure your computer can handle SL prior to this event)
• Your Skype or iChat ID, if you have one (we might get ambitious and try some audio)
At this time, it is women-only – we wanted to create a women-friendly environment for learning and experimentation, particularly in regards to technology. We have some good representation on the east and west coasts … gals from the prairies, if you’re interested, send me an email! Once I add you to the group, you’ll get the coordinates for our initial meeting place.
