On May 25, 2018, the new EU General Dara Protection Regulation (GDPR) is officially in motion. That’s why you’ve been flooded with updates from a multitude of businesses via email, apps, websites, etc., informing you of their changes in policies and terms of service over the past couple of weeks.
To refresh your memory, the GDPR is used to protect the public and service them with the right to:
- Access the data that has been collected by a company and how.
- Withdraw the information that has been collected by a company.
- Transfer data that has been collected from one source to another.
- Inhibit the collection or use of their personal information
- Notification of data breach;
- And more.
By now, your business should have determined where your personal data is obtained from, who has access to your data and if it is protected. If your businesses data collection is enormous, clean out whatever information is deemed unnecessary. A lot of businesses make the mistake of collecting so much data that the mass amounts become useless. Additionally, the GDPR is enforcing that data collection must be more intentional. Finally, make sure your business has a handle on how they will legally carry out processes of collecting the public’s information – as is collection process is as important as the data itself.

Lego’s Brand is Their Social Media Strategy
A business that was born out of creativity uses the same strategy when creating content for their social media. Lego is successful across all social media platforms because of their fun and playful content.
Social platforms are always changing in ways to allow users and business to become more creative with how we choose to display and create content. According to Lego’s Global Director,” We want to learn from it, we want to try it out, we want to play around with it like we were kids who just got new toys.”
The brand’s most significant social media following is on YouTube, and is home to hundreds of astoundingly creative videos. Lego seamlessly promotes their new products, with pop culture and completely unique ideas driving 30-million unique users to their YouTube page monthly.
How People Use Social Media Platform’s in 2018
A recent study conducted by Pew Research Center in the U.S. has uncovered updated information about the specific audiences using particular media platforms.
The findings show that U.S. adults above the age of 24 are Facebook’s primary users. The younger test groups, U.S. adults 24-years or younger, are more often using Snapchat and Instagram as their primary social media platforms. The demographic of these platform’s users is extremely diverse.
Smaller social platforms like Pinterest, LinkedIn and WhatsApp have more defined target audiences. Pinterest is a primarily female user-based service. LinkedIn is as equally popular with females as it is with males and is most commonly used by recent graduates. And WhatsApp is most popular within Latin America.
Becoming social media literate with cross-correlating users can help drive more successful social posting within your business.
The Royal Wedding
Last Saturday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle joined in marriage and became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The stunning couple blew the world away with their beautiful and less than traditional wedding. Of course, the internet gathered accordingly and produced social media posts for the masses.

John Mayer’s New Light Music Video
John Mayer may be a musical prodigy, but he is also known for his oddball humour. Yesterday, he released his latest music video for his newest single “New Light”. He posted on Instagram that “no one could agree on a budget, so I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos.”
