I’ve already mentioned why I’ve been attending mesh and meshmarketing conferences for years. When I saw the line up for this fall’s meshmarketing being held on November 6 at the Bram & Bluma Appel Salon of the Toronto Public Library, two words got me very excited: Ann Handley!

Content is Queen this year

Content Rules, Marketing Profs and ClickZ … need I say more. If you’ve read her books, blog or frequented her other online communities, you’re probably already a fan. She’s decided to launch her latest book, Everybody Writes at meshmarketing. Content Rules is the textbook for our #digitaledu Foundations course  and many of us have met her co-author and Content King, C.C. Chapman but Ann Handley is known more to most of us north of the border virtually. Seeing her and hearing her speak alone is worth the price of admission.

And then there’s Renée Warren who somehow between running Onboardly, a startup marketing agency she co-founded, Renée manages to share countless pictures of her adorable toddlers – yes, she has two with Dan Martell – and she’s running a business with a few other women who spend their days helping other companies generate compelling content.

StartUp Kings

About a year and a half ago I saw Dan Martell speak at a GROW conference. His session was one of my favourites with lots of actionable tips I used immediately to help my clients. When I started my own business, one of the best pieces of advice I received was how to say “No.” It’s not easy and although the ability to say no is freeing, it remains an ongoing challenge for me. Dan knows that’s the case for many of us today when we’re asked by someone if they can pick our brains. So, he did something about it and started a community called Clarity. Check out “How Saying No Allows Me To Do More” for tips to help entrepreneurs handle email overload. He included a list of circumstances and responses you can adapt for your own needs.

Darby Sieben, President of Mediative, a digital media firm and division of Yellow Pages Group is also on the speaker’s list. He’s a start-up investor and advisor.

Don’t forget the analytics or rather Annielytics

Annie Cushing of Annielytics “…is on a mission to rid the world of ugly data, one spreadsheet at a time.”
