Twitter Shares its 2020 Year in Review
Although 2020 has been a doozy (YouTube even opted to skip out on its infamous Rewind this year) the Twitter’s #ThisHappened review dropped earlier this week and it actually proved that not everything about 2020 was bad.
The company took to the blogosphere to share the year’s most liked tweets, top trending hashtags, most retweeted users, and most used emoji.
Let’s take a closer look:

Kobe was a legend on the court and just getting started in what would have been just as meaningful a second act. To lose Gianna is even more heartbreaking to us as parents. Michelle and I send love and prayers to Vanessa and the entire Bryant family on an unthinkable day.

Facebook Shares Key Conversation Insights Across its Platforms
And just like Twitter, Facebook is in the process of rounding up important facts and data from 2020. The company released its annual ‘Topics and Trends report’, outlining key conversations happening on its platforms. Data for Instagram is a new addition to this year’s report.
The 40-page report looks at trends and topics across four categories, including Education and Action, Lifestyle, Technology, and Leisure. Each topic includes a regional breakdown, providing a graphic overview of how the discussion evolved in different markets and areas of the world.
For businesses and marketers working on their strategies for 2021, Facebook’s insights could prove helpful for content development and more. Download your copy here. Let us know how we can help with your digital strategy.
Instagram Tests Timers on Stories to Boost Engagement
A new test by Instagram will add timers to user stories in hopes to boost clickthrough rates and encourage user engagement. The timer, as shown below, will show how much longer a user’s story will be available for before it’s erased.

Instagram is always looking for new ways to boost follower engagement – whether or not this latest move will be a winning idea is yet to be determined.
