Tip 2: Develop a publishing schedule
Brands, and those representing them, want to know that your blog is being updated regularly and that you’re publishing new posts frequently. You don’t need to blog every day but they will want to see that your blog is up-to-date before they approach you with opportunities. If you’ve published 800 posts but haven’t blogged in more than a year, no matter how high your search rankings, a brand worth its salt won’t be interested in what you have to say, except perhaps if you’ve blogged about them a lot in the past.
Here are some resources you may find helpful:
• I’ve been using Evernote to help plan my blog posts. I keep an ongoing list of ideas that I can access from my laptop, smartphone or tablet as long as they’re connected to the Internet.
• You can also prepare your blog posts in advance and schedule when they go live. I use Google Calendar and WordPress has a built-in editorial calendar.
