It’s hard to believe, but the holidays have finally arrived!
If you’re like some of us at Spodek & Co., you’re probably scrambling to do last-minute shopping, decorating, baking or wrapping before turning on your “out of office” alert until the new year.
Whether you’re celebrating this season or taking some time to relax and unwind, there’s something about this time of year that inspires the spirit of giving.
Give back by supporting women-led businesses
In 2018, we shared our team’s top gift picks in support of women-led businesses.
We received such great feedback on our selections that we decided to do it again — with a twist! This year, we’ve curated a list of some of our favourite women-owned and women-led businesses that are making an impact both in their communities, and around the world.
Make Lemonade
Make Lemonade is a Toronto workspace founded by Rachel Kelly, for women-identified people looking for an inspiring and motivating environment to make their dreams a reality.
We love their mandate (when life gives you lemons, make lemonade!), their commitment to inclusivity, and of course, their bright and colourful Instagram feed.

The Wellth Company
The Wellth Company (@thewellthco) is led by Lisa Zamparo, Chartered Professional Accountant.
It’s a financial advisory firm for female-led startups, small businesses and self-employed women. While The Wellth Company is based in Toronto, they’re a virtual firm (just like us!) and can work from wherever.
If you’re looking for a modern, engaging take on traditional financial expertise, you’ll love following along with Lisa and her team!

Naughty Florals
These cheeky, hand-drawn greeting cards and decals by boss babe Heather of Naughty Florals (@naughtyflorals) are equal parts hilarious and gorgeous.
Heather’s put a twist on the typical greeting card by pairing classic flowers with modern sensibilities, and we just can’t get enough of them!

The Leadership Agency
Founded by and led by CEO Jamie Hoobanoff, The Leadership Agency (@theleadershipagency) is a North American recruitment agency building big buzz in the tech and startup communities.
We love Jamie’s business mindset and her approach to recruitment, and we’re not the only ones – Jamie was named Female CEO of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year by World CEO Golden Bridge Awards this year.

Kind Karma Co.
Looking for a way to give gifts this holiday season but also give back at the same time? Female-owned Kind Karma Company (@kindkarmaco) employs at-risk and homeless youth in Toronto to handcraft stunning quality jewelry.
In addition to fair hourly wages, proceeds from all sales are returned to Kind Karma Company’s youth artisans to support their individual goals.

Giving Back in Other Ways
If you’re looking for other ways to give back this holiday season – or year-round – considering donating your time or expertise. This year, the team at Spodek & Co. contributed over 700 pro-bono hours in support of non-profit clients – a business best!
Thanks to all our clients, friends, partners and supporters who have cheered us on this year and worked alongside us – we wish you all a happy holiday and a bright and prosperous 2020!
